Interest and Penalty on Your Water and Sewer Bill

The Town charges a penalty of 1.25% per month (or 15% per year) on outstanding water/sewer amounts. This penalty is charged once monthly in compliance with the Municipal Act, 2001. If you did not receive a water/sewer bill please contact the municipal office at info@blindriver.ca or 705 - 356-2251; failure to receive a bill from the municipality does not exempt the bill from being due or exempt the rate payer from incurring late payment charges.

Water billing is done quarterly:

Quarter 1 - January 1 - March 31

Quarter 2 - April 1 - June 30

Quarter 3 - July 1 - September 30

Quarter 4 - October 1 - December 31

You can sign up for a pre-authorized payment plan to pay your water bill, which will automatically withdraw money from your bank account to pay your bill. You may choose to pay monthly or on the due date. Please complete the Payor's Authorization for Pre-Authorized Debits Form and return it to us with a cheque marked “VOID”.

The Town of Blind River offers 2 PAP options for payment of your water/sewer bills:

  • Option #1 - Quarterly PAP, the full billed amount is withdrawn on the bill due date; 4 times a year.
  • Option #2 - Monthly PAP, equal payment monthly plan; withdrawal amount is established based on your previous billing history. Withdrawals will occur on the last business day of each month.
