Phase II Commemorative Bench Program

Posted: 09/22/2022

Phase II of The Commemorative Bench Program provides Blind River residents with the opportunity to purchase an accessible picnic table in memory of a loved one, dedication of a significant event, or acknowledge a donation with a personalized message. This program is designed to ensure a variety of residents can show appreciation.
Tables are selected to complement Blind River's Community Improvement Plan, landscape, as well as promote sustainability. The municipality is committed to providing a streamlined look and feel in its public-use spaces. They will be constructed of composite materials as well as heavy-duty powder coated frames.
The Community Services Department will have an inventory of available locations. Staff are happy to meet with you to select a location that meets your memorial need.
Seating locations available at this time (Updated October 2022):

  • Tourist Information Centre
  • The Marine Park
  • Logging Artefact Site
  • Chiblow/Hudson Public Outdoor Space
  • Sellers Beach
The municipality is planning to add future locations such as:
  • Playgrounds, Greenspaces, and Parks
  • Boom Camp Trails
  • Hillside Cemetery East and West
  • Forrest Glen to NSHN Trail
Sponsorship of seating will remain in place for the lifespan of the unit. The municipality will not be responsible for replacement costs.
A 25% non-refundable deposit must accompany your application. The balance remaining is due upon plaque approval and order will take place once final payment is received. The fees structure is reviewed annually and prices will be adjusted as required per market value. Tables are available on a first-come basis. In the event two applications are received for the same location, the application with a deposit will be prioritized.
Please Note: Plaques will be installed between May and November. Order placed after October 1st will be installed the following spring.
